Arsenal have just been contacted by Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan for Matteo Guendouzi.
L’Equipe states that all three clubs have been interested in the French midfielder for quite some time now.
Now is their best chance of signing him for a bargain. Guendouzi was picked out of Ligue 2 football to quickly become an exciting name in the Premier League. His composure and ability with the ball sparked off talks of future stardom but very quickly his ascent staggered. Confrontations on and off the pitch deemed him to be a liability and his falling off with Mikel Arteta has made him an excess to needs at the Emirates.
The Frenchman has not featured for Arsenal since the 2-1 defeat against Brighton last month. His unwise handling of the Neal Maupay situation sparked off arguments within the Gunners dressing room. Arteta and several other players questioned Guendouzi’s actions but the midfielder had no remorse.
That was the final straw for Arteta who had already gone into a confrontation with the 21-year-old before during a training camp in Dubai. It is still surprising how top clubs like Barcelona are interested in Guendouzi. It clearly shows the heaps of talents he has under his boots and why Arsenal made the decision to sign him in the first place. Too bad it did not according to plan at North London.
