Barcelona have reportedly identified Alexandre Lacazette as a backup if they fail to lure Antoine Griezmann.
The Arsenal forward has been amongst goals quite regularly and has added 18 goals to his tally in all competitions so far. His partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been very fruitful as they have bailed Arsenal on many occasions.
The Gunners edged out Valencia 3-1in the first leg of the Europa League and have a huge advantage ahead of the second leg. Barcelona have Griezmann on the top of their wish list but there is no surety whether Atletico Madrid would sanction a deal for the French forward.
The Catalans had very high hopes last summer but the French international went on to put pen to paper to a new lucrative deal. However, Barcelona are still hopeful of concluding a deal but if somehow their plans got derailed they have a contingency plan in place.
Lacazette arrived from Lyon in 2017 for a reported fee of £46.5m and after initial hiccups, he has been pretty pivotal to Unai Emery’s plans this season. The forward is valued at around £60m but Barcelona are eager to offer Andre Gomes and Samuel Umtiti in a bid to sweeten the deal.
