Bernd Leno - I Am Number One At Arsenal

Bernd Leno proved to everyone last night why he is the number one at Arsenal.

The Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool ended goalless in normal time, credited to some excellent saves made by the German shot-stopper.

Leno went on to save two more penalties to help Arsenal progress to the quarter-finals and face Manchester City next. The 26-year-old was thrilled to put such a commanding show for the fans, many of whom have questioned his ability after the emergence of Emiliano Martinez.

“It was a very tough game. We made a few changes, you could see our philosophy and intention to win this game,” said Leno.

“This is a chance to win another trophy, that is our target. Of course, it is good for a goalkeeper to make some penalty saves and see some laughing faces after the end. I’d prefer to win the game without penalties. The main thing is we won the game.

“It is not easy to come to same place with a big disappointment from Monday. We analysed the game and the manager found the right words to lift us.

“The club has always given me the feeling I was the number one, I am the number one and will be the number one. My job is to prove it every week and I feel I have done that tonight.”
