Brentford striker Ivan Toney has hit back at Arsenal defender Gabriel.
Arsenal’s secured a 3-0 win over Brentford last weekend, revenge for last year’s loss to Bees. The same Brentford side defeated Arteta’s men in the season opener last year.
Following Brentford’s victory that night, Toney tweeted: “Nice kickabout with the boys”, with Gabriel posting the same tweet on Sunday night.
“Once was funny, second time was a bit cringey,” said Toney, who was speaking ahead of England’s Nations League matches against Germany and Italy.
“I bit my tongue, I wanted to reply, I wanted to nibble. But fair play to them, they played very well and they’re a different Arsenal side to what we played before. They’re going very well so fair play to them.”
