David Raya denies any rift with Aaron Ramsdale over goalkeeping position.

The Spaniard joined the Gunners from Brentford on a season-long loan and displaced Aaron Ramsdale to become Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper.

He has already made 17 appearances for the Gunners this campaign whereas Ramsdale started only three games.

Ramsdale has been a key player for the North London side over the past two seasons and helped Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title last term.

But Mikel Arteta has put his faith in the on-loan Spaniard whose deal is expected to be made permanent next summer.

Raya has firmly established his spot in Arteta’s XI which led to rumours of Ramsdale seeking an exit this January to get more guaranteed minutes.

Raya said to Evening Standard: “He is a top, top goalkeeper and a top, top team-mate. We are team-mates, we are fighting for one position.

“Aaron and me we have a good relationship, especially as we push each other in every training session. That is going to make us better and it is going to make the team better.

“Of course [he has made me a better goalkeeper], and I think I have made him a better goalkeeper. If we see with each other when we are training that we can help each other, that’s how we are and that’s how we do.”
