Fabrizio Romano provides exclusive update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Karim Benzema
In an exclusive report on GIVEMESPORT, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed details about Arsenal’s attempt to acquire Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema during the January transfer window.
Benzema, who made a surprise move to Saudi Arabia last summer, has been a prolific goal-scorer, but he is presumably dealing with off-field troubles, having lacking a presentation ahead of training camp.
With the 36-year-old reportedly looking to return to Europe, Romano revealed that both Arsenal and Chelsea are looking into a loan deal for the experienced forward. While Premier League clubs may struggle to afford Benzema’s high salaries, negotiating an arrangement in which they contribute a modest amount could benefit both parties.
Romano stated Arsenal’s desire to improve their attacking alternatives in the winter transfer window, noting inconsistencies from Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano stated…“Because as we seeing also with Jordan Henderson, for example, that you can have this kind of desire, but then they’re paying big money in terms of salary, they spent big money in terms of the transfer fee, so it’s not that easy to get out for these players from Saudi league. But in any case, I think it could be one to follow in the next few days. But again, as of now, there is still nothing concrete or advanced.”
The journalist warned that any approach for a Saudi player would be difficult due to the complexity of fees and wages.
Arsenal may need to offload current team members in order to meet Premier League profit and sustainability standards. Romano hinted at the changing circumstances, advising fans to keep an eye on what happens in the following days and weeks about Benzema’s probable move to the Premier League.
