With Arteta looking to rebuild the Gunners squad, Rio Ferdinand has pitched in who he has been blown away at Arsenal.

He came up with three names – Joe Willock, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka – stating that these three players have impressed him a lot at Arsenal.

Ever since Unai Emery was sacked last year as Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has been making changes as the replacement. Arsenal has definitely seen a lot of improvement under Arteta’s reign and the Spanish manager has been taking on many young talents in the squad, some of which have been Martinelli, Willock and Saka.

The former Manchester United Rio Ferdinand argues on behalf of these youngsters – saying that they must be given more chances to play in the first team. Their skillset and talent is promising. And at this time when Arteta is looking to rebuild his squad, Ferdinand believes that the Gunners will benefit highly from the trio.

Ferdinand has further expressed that the Arsenal should also try and activate more in terms of the defence – which is a bit weak right now, compared to other teams. The upcoming summer transfer window will be a good opportunity to bring in improvements on the defence front.

“Arsenal is a fantastic football club, what a club, a massive club. I think they’ve got to get it right in other areas of the pitch,” said Ferdinand, as quoted by Metro via the Sport Review, when he went live on his Instagram this week.

“Keep bringing in these [players], [Gabriel] Martinelli, [Bukayo] Saka, [Joe] Willock, all these boys.

“I love seeing that but they’ve got to get stability and strength in there, some people who will do good for the club, because it hasn’t worked with the likes of Sokratis [Papastathopoulos] and [Shkodran] Mustafi, I don’t think they haven’t been able to get it right, and [Calum] Chambers before that.”
