Former Arsenal star Kevin Campbell believes that Unai Emery is not starting both strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette because he is not happy with his team’s quality.

Aubameyang and Lacazette have been Arsenal’s shining stars of this season, scoring 19 and 14 goals respectively. However, Unai Emery hasn’t started both strikers together for more than a month now. The last time he started both strikers was in a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City. 6 matches have passed and Emery hasn’t started both strikers together.

Campbell believes that starting both strikers may have a negative impact on the team’s balance. The former Arsenal striker said, “I would love to see both of them playing up front. But I don’t think Unai Emery’s comfortable enough with the personnel in order to play them.

I think if he does play them, one tends to play wide, so obviously they’re not utilising their talent as best they can in unison. But he’s only really got two strikers. There’s Eddie Nketiah who’s a good young player but he doesn’t have the experience yet. But he’s playing a very smart game, giving each player some minutes, or starts, and then he’s bringing one off and bringing the other one.”

Emery’s rotation of both strikers in the starting lineup hasn’t had any ill effects so far. In the 6 games that have followed since both Aubameyang and Lacazette last started, the duo have scored a combined four goals- three to Lacazette and one to Aubameyang.
