Former English player Gabby Agbonlahor believes Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal’s excellent goalkeeper, may have considered leaving the club during the coming January transfer window. According to Agbonlahor, this probable move might be important in ensuring Ramsdale a coveted berth in England’s squad for the Euro 2024 tournament.
While Ramsdale is undoubtedly one of England’s best goalkeepers, intense competition within the national team makes making the Euros squad a difficult assignment. To improve their chances, players must appear regularly for their teams, which has been difficult for Ramsdale in previous years.
Agbonlahor stated:“Ramsdale knows now that his career and chances of going to the Euros with England could well depend on him moving in January.
“Sometimes you’ve got to accept that you’re number two. The manager isn’t going to come out and say it, but he’s not thick.”
Ramsdale had made tremendous progress toward becoming England’s first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal before losing his starting position to David Raya. This loss of playing time has cast doubt on his chances of representing his country at Euro 2024.
Agbonlahor’s mention of a possible move away from Arsenal is consistent with the concept that gaining regular playing time at another club could be critical for Ramsdale’s Euros squad desires. Whether this relocation takes place remains to be seen, but it might be a turning point in Ramsdale’s quest for worldwide success.
