Following rumours that Arsenal may consider bids for the striker next year, Gabriel Jesus has responded to rumours about his future at the club. Three players were allegedly added to the club’s transfer list this week in preparation for the New Year.
Along with Ben White and Gabriel Martinelli, Jesus is one of those players, while 18-year-old sensation Ethan Nwaneri may be considered for a loan transfer. Throughout his time at Arsenal, Jesus has struggled with fitness. He is now recovering from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury he suffered during the FA Cup third round last season.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal wants the Brazilian striker to be match-ready for the January transfer window since they may decide to part ways with him if a “suitable” offer comes in. He has ruled out leaving the Gunners before his contract expires in the summer of 2027, despite his wish to someday rejoin his childhood team, Palmeiras.
Arsenal star admits telling club’s players he’ll eventually leave
After suffering an ACL injury against Manchester United at the beginning of 2025, Jesus is back in training and recovering. Arteta has stated that he is eager for their “unpredictable” weapon to return to the pitch. But following his time at Arsenal, the 28-year-old has also stated that he would like to join Palmeiras; Jesus has also admitted this to Globo Esporte.
The Brazil international told Standard Sport, a South American media publication, that he has told the Palmeiras players he plans to ultimately join them. Jesus expressed his gratitude to Palmeiras, saying, “I’ve made it clear to some players there that one day I’ll come back. Palmeiras is the club I support.”
It’s interesting to note that The Mail just revealed that Arsenal would accept offers for Jesus in the upcoming year, so if they can pay, his return to Palmeiras might possibly happen sooner than he had anticipated. In order for the Brazilian Serie A team to make this transfer, the former Man City player, who presently earns £265,000 per week in N5, would have to accept a significant salary cut.
