Karim Benzema the key to Arsenal’s Premier League dreams

In a surprising turn in the Arsenal transfer story, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has thrown his support behind the Gunners’ pursuit of experienced striker Karim Benzema.

During the January transfer window, Redknapp is sure that signing Benzema will be the turning point for Mikel Arteta’s side winning the coveted Premier League title this season.

“Where does he go now, Benzema? He’s a gamble,” Redknapp told the BBC’s Transfer Gossip Daily podcast.

“It’s short-term. Could you take him to Arsenal until the end of the season? He might come in and get the goals to push them up and win the title for them.

“They’re not far away, they’re still in the running even though they’ve had a bit of a blip – could he be the one to make the difference? They have great players to make opportunities for him, it’s a big gamble with massive wages.”

“Arsenal’s team, everything is there,” Redknapp added. “Arsenal are a very good team, well balanced – the only thing they lack is a finisher up front.

“They’ve got clever passers, people who can make a pass and make goals. Two fantastic wingers, they’d make opportunities for him (Benzema).”

Benzema, who departed Real Madrid for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League last summer, has been the subject of intense speculation regarding a potential move back to the Premier League.

Despite the striker’s lawyer dismissing exit rumors, Redknapp believes that the 36-year-old Frenchman’s experience and goal-scoring prowess could provide the crucial edge that Arsenal needs.

Redknapp, renowned for his keen football insights, acknowledges that any potential deal for Benzema would be a short-term arrangement. However, he underlines the immediate impact the veteran striker could make in bolstering Arsenal’s title aspirations.

With the January transfer deadline looming on February 1, the football world eagerly awaits to see if Arsenal will heed Redknapp’s advice and make a move for the prolific forward in their quest for Premier League glory.
