Former Arsenal footballer and club legend Ian Wright has told the club to sack manager Unai Emery.

The Gunners suffered yet another defeat at the King Power stadium. It was an insipid display from Emery’s men as they never looked like winning all three points.

The former striker tweeted: “1 shot on target tonight!! 2 wins in 10 in the league. No definitive style or plan. Negative goal difference. No improvement in the defence. Not creating anything. Why would Laca or Auba renew? Can’t blame them! We have to make the tough decision Arsenal! It’s not getting better!”

However, Emery chose to remain upbeat despite a lacklustre performance.

He said: “In the end, a bad result. Before the first goal we were in the match and in the second half we started to push in and create chances but they are in a good moment and they won.

“The first half we defended well together and had some good transition, but they were pushing, doing the pressing and sometimes we broke the pressing and got in the box with two full-backs and also the strikers, and we had chances to score.

Emery’s men have now fallen 8 points behind in the top four race with City having the chance to extend the gap even further. How long this patchy streak will be allowed to continue at Arsenal without something drastic happening remains to be seen.
