Inter Milan are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka, according to reports coming out of Italy.
The 26-year-old has experienced yet another season of good and bad. He has taken to Unai Emery’s footballing approach quite well but his inconsistencies have not escaped him.
Xhaka came to Arsenal in 2016 for £35m and fans are largely torn over the player he has turned out to be. In all honesty, after three seasons at the Emirates, it is fair to draw some conclusions on the midfielder.
While he is a highly passionate figure on the pitch, he does lack some of the most needful qualities to be a decent player. His concentration on the pitch is well below par and so is his ability to create from the deep end.
Even though he plays as a defensive midfielder, he is sometimes a major liability in his own half. The Swiss international has still managed to feature heavily under Emery this season and also signed a contract extension last summer.
With Arsenal heading towards a new challenge, it would not the worst choice to offload the former Borussia Mönchengladbach player. Emery already has a tough task ahead of him this summer in trying to raise funds for player transfers.
Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have proved to be an able midfield duo with Mohamed Elneny as backup. Plenty has pegged the Egyptian to leave in July but it would not be the worst idea to keep him and sell Xhaka instead.
Of course, it will become imperative to sign a replacement with Aaron Ramsey also leaving for Juventus after the season.
