The Spaniard’s time at the club seems to be limited.
Under-fire Emery’s latest loss could very well be one of his last games, after Arsenal chief meets with an unexpected replacement.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery admitted results must improve quickly after a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves extended the Gunners’ winless run in the Premier League to three games. Raul Jimenez’s header 14 minutes from time earned Wolves a well-deserved point after Arsenal’s captain for the day Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang opened the scoring against the run of play.
Emery’s men have now won just two of their last nine league games and could end the weekend six points adrift of the top four.
Now Jose Mourinho has reportedly emerged as an unlikely candidate to replace Unai Emery as the current Arsenal boss continues to struggle in the post. The Emirates Stadium was mentioned as a potential next managerial destination for the Portuguese, who has been out of coaching since being sacked by Manchester United last December.
According to The Times, Arsenal have made Mourinho one of the prime targets to replace Emery at the helm of affairs at the club. Moreover, the report claims that Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi dined with the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager this week.
On top of all of it, there are claims that if Arsenal lose to Leicester City in their next Premier League encounter, Emery will be given the sack.
