Arsenal fans get a positive update on the return of Jurrien Timber who will be back in action for the Champions League knockouts. The Gunners have included Jurrien Timber to their Champions League squad ahead of their last-16 tie with Porto.
The talented defender joined the club from Ajax last summer but he faced injury on his debut in the Premier League. The 22-year-old sustained an ACL injury in August last year.
Timber has since spent a lengthy period in rehabilitation after undergoing surgery. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shared last month that the Dutchman still needs more time to recover from his injury before making a return to training.
He spoke to reporters, “Unfortunately, that’s a very long-term injury. He is doing really well but he is still far from being fit to train with the team, or something to compete with the team so we don’t expect him back anytime soon.”
Timber was left out of Arsenal’s initial Champions League squad for the first half of the season. Meanwhile, the Gunners qualified for the knockout rounds. They will make travel to Lisbon to take on Porto for the first leg of their last-16 tie.
Here’s the squad for Arsenal ahead of Champions League tie against Porto:
