One might have already heard about Aaron Ramsey’s gigantic £400,000-per-week contract that he signed with Juventus for a free transfer in July but the Serie A side have also revealed how they plan on using him.
Ramsey’s playing style did not quite fit into Unai Emery’s system at the Emirates. He has been tried and tested in various positions but a specific role in the current Arsenal side has not been found yet.
Arsene Wenger was more aware on how to use the Welshman, often implementing his offensive talents in a box-to-box deep-lying midfield role. However, Ramsey did find it hard to settle himself into the midfield trio with Mesut Ozil also in the squad.
Juventus’ sporting director, Fabio Paratici believe they can extract the best out of the 28-year-old with their own system under Massimiliano Allegri.
Paratici told Gazzetta dello Sport, “We signed him because he’s a player that’s different to the ones we have, “He has more technique but is less defensive & tactical. I think Ramsey has never found his best position because he hasn’t played as a mezzala in a three-man midfield. That’s his position.”
Mezzala is an Italian term which means ‘half wing’. It is the midfield spot right between the central and wing positions. Ramsey would operate with two other bodies next to him where his defensive incapacities would not be exposed.
The Bianconeri have made him their second highest paid player right behind, Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the midfielder will have to compete against the likes of Sami Khedira, Blaise Matuidi, Rodrigo Bentacur and even Emre Can for a spot in the Juventus midfield.
