According to different media sources, Kai Havertz was supposed to have his medical this weekend, but according to Fabrizio Romano, he will be introduced as an Arsenal player early next week. According to reports, Mikel Arteta played a key role in the transfer, doing all in his power to persuade Havertz to choose Arsenal over main rivals Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, it appears that the 24-year-old didn’t require much persuading because he feels that joining Arsenal and Arteta was the finest project available to him and the best project in Europe at the time.
The player thinks Arteta’s methods and ideas will improve him as a player. Not just Arteta, but several other Arsenal players also messaged Havertz, and their relationship off the pitch already seems promising, according to Romano. Prior to the player’s official introduction, Arteta declined to comment extensively on Havertz in an interview with Marca, but he did offer a few words of admiration.
David Ornstein said on Wednesday that Arsenal and Chelsea have struck a preliminary agreement over the trade of Havertz. Ornstein noted that personal terms had already been agreed upon and that the sale was expected to be valued about £65 million. After a medical this weekend, Havertz’s transfer to Arsenal should be revealed early the next week, according to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian and James Olley of ESPN.
Havertz is a flexible addition to the team, according to Olley, who claimed that Arsenal sees him as capable of playing in the front three as well as the number 10 or number 8 roles. However, it’s interesting to note that Liam Twomey of The Athletic says that Havertz will play as a left 8 for Arsenal in place of Granit Xhaka. We’ll have to see what Arteta has in mind for him. The 24-year-old’s most recent international action saw him make three appearances while on goal and win a penalty.
