Gabriel has made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring four times.
Arsenal will be in action for a crucial Premier League clash with Aston Villa this weekend. Ahead of this tie, they face a big blow as their key defender, Gabriel has emerged as a doubt after missing Friday morning’s training session.
The centre-back played the full 90 minutes of the Champions League contest with Bayern Munich. He later missed Arsenal’s training session on Friday, and the Brazilian will now be assessed before the game on Saturday.
Arteta spoke to reporters when asked about him during his pre-match press conference, “We’ve got one more day to prepare for the match and we’ll see tomorrow if everybody is available.”
Gabriel has made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring four times. The 26-year-old is in great touch for the Gunners during the 2023-24 season. He has been terrific as his side conceded 24 goals only in 31 matches this season.
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table, level on points with second-placed Liverpool and one point ahead of Manchester City. Meanwhile, Arteta has provided a positive update on Timber who is recovering from an ACL injury.
Arsenal boss said, “He’s still got a few steps to make. He needs to play a game, at least with the under-21s and he’s going to have an in-house game soon as well.”
“He’s done everything in training, now it’s getting that match fitness and having people around him to start competing in a full match which is different to training.”
