One of Arsenal’s reported targets for the summer, Dennis Praet has confirmed that he is open to leaving Sampdoria.
The Gunners have been eyeing up a double move for the midfielder and his teammate, Joachim Anderson. Latest reports claim that Unai Emery has even placed a bid for the duo.
Speaking to the press this week, Praet revealed, “I want to move to a top club in one of the 4 top leagues. I don’t have a release clause, but Sampdoria have verbally agreed to grant me a move if an interesting offer arrives.”
The 25-year-old is a central midfielder who had a solid partnership for Lucas Torreira before the Uruguayan departed for the Emirates. The two appeared in 59 games together and could be eager to rejoin forces in the Gunners ranks.
Sampdoria is yet to respond to the rumours since there have been reports of a €42m bid placed for both Praet and Anderson. That initial Arsenal offer seems to have been rejected by the Serie A outfit but the player’s desire to leave could aid in getting a deal done soon.
Arsenal are looking for reinforcements in the midfield ever since Aaron Ramsey left for Juventus on a free transfer. They, however, need to address the defence first which is why they are looking into Joachim Anderson as well.
