Arsenal midfielder Marcelo Flores earned the national call-up for the first time.
Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal youth website reports Flores has frequently impressed for Mexico at the youth level. He was also named the player of the tournament for the U20s at the Revelations Cup.
Gunners midfielder is also eligible to represent Canada and England. The 18-year-old has been called up to a provisional squad at the senior level.
Marcelo is now leaning towards representing Mexico. He has been included in the senior squad of Mexico.
The midfielder will be absent when Arsenal U18s get their FA Youth Cup campaign underway with a trip to face Colchester United. Mexico will meet Chile next week in an international friendly.
