Mesut Ozil Responds After Being Left Out Of Europa League Tie Against BATE

Unai Emery released the names of the team member who will be travelling to BATE Borisov for their Europa League fixture on Thursday night and one person whose name was shockingly omitted was Mesut Ozil.

The German was noticed training with the team on Wednesday morning in London Colney with reports coming out that he was fit to play. Starting names like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Granit Xhaka all made recoveries from their perspective injuries and have been included in the 18-man squad.

Shortly after the announcement, Ozil posted on Twitter with a picture of himself training on Wednesday morning. The caption read, “Today’s winning team. Training fun,” inclusive of hashtags for “team spirit” and “we are the Arsenal”.

It is currently unclear about the dynamic between Emery and the German midfielder but the latter’s inclusion in the club’s regular activities is certainly has sparked some concerns among the Arsenal faithful.

Mirror picked up some of the reactions of the Gunners supporters as one hilariously posted, “Man is getting paid £350k a week to train only, best job in the world.”

Another added, “Not in squad again… What’s happening… Fans want to know… I became a football fan only because of you Mesut.”

Arsenal are 5th in the Premier League standings and are chasing a Europa League trophy for the third season in a row. When the club’s highest paid player continues to sit on the benches on a regular basis, it is bound to raise concerns regarding the manager’s intentions.

However, even without Ozil, Arsenal are capable of taking on BATE in the knockout stages especially with Henrikh Mkhitaryan fit again.
