Hertha Berlin have put on notice regarding Matteo Guendouzi’s immediate future.
Reports claim that Mikel Arteta might be ready to recall the Frenchman from loan.
After a very difficult period last season where he saw himself ousted from the Arsenal squad, Guendouzi has rejuvenated his form in Germany. He has earned rave reviews from his current boss, Bruno Labbadia.
“We’re glad we managed to recruit him,” Labbadia said. “He is a very, very good player, who has a sense of space and is very technically skilled.”
Guendouzi’s biggest point of controversy was his temperament both on and off the pitch. There were reports of multiple bust-ups between him and Arteta because of which he saw the boot last term. Fans do not really expect Guendouzi to put on the Arsenal shirt again but current reports suggest otherwise.
It seems like Arteta likes what he has seen of the midfielder in the past few months. With his plans to offload a number of figures from the club, he could find a place for Guendouzi once again.
Of course, that will only be possible after the squad is trimmed this January. So far, we have only seen Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba head out on loan. Further names like Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Mesut Ozil are tipped to follow.
