Mikel Arteta explains his controversial Aubameyan sub in Man United loss.

The Gunners seemed to have rediscovered their robust form week-in and week-out but have struggled to register a win in their last two games.

Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggled to make an impact against United and was replaced by Lacazette in the 79th minute.

The 32-year old striker has now gone five matches without finding the back of the net.

Mikel Arteta explains why he subbed Aubameyang when the team was trailing.

‘We made a decision to get the best out of the team,’ Arteta told Sky Sports.

‘At that moment I believed it was the right call to do and get some fresh legs as well.

‘He worked really hard in the game and we were chasing a goal and that was the decision.’

When asked whether Aubameyang accepts the criticism levied at him, Arteta replied: ‘I don’t know, that’s a question for him but the way he trains and the way he’s behaving he doesn’t look any different.

‘We need his goals, we need his performances and we know that he’s part of our success.’
