Mikel Arteta has blamed the wind behind Arsenal’s struggle in front of goals.
The Gunners endured their second defeat of the season as they were beaten 1-0 at Villa Park on Sunday evening.
Mikel Arteta’s men dominated the game with 62% possession and were goalless despite an xG of 1.4.
John McGinn’s fine finish in the seventh minute sealed all three points for Unai Emery’s side.
Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to return to the top of the Premier League standings as they missed four big chances in the encounter.
Manager Mikel Arteta believes the wind at Villa Park caused a problem and hurt their goalscoring opportunities.
Arteta said: ‘I think it was a bit windy today.
‘You see a lot of misplaced balls or not having the right touch or not having the right accuracy in certain passes.
‘I don’t know. But for sure I have a responsibility [to improve their finishing], I have to take it, yeah.’
He added: ‘We had two or three open goals almost that we couldn’t manage to score. There’s not much more that we could have demanded from the players than what we got today.
‘We’re very disappointed because we didn’t get the result that we wanted.’
