Mikel Arteta has given a double injury update ahead of weekend game.
The Gunners will be welcoming Jurgen Klopp’s men on Sunday afternoon for one of the crucial clashes of the season.
If Arsenal manages to win the fixtures against Liverpool, they could narrow the gap to just two points in the Premier League table.
Club manager Mikel Arteta has given a significant update on the squad’s fitness and has confirmed that Gabriel Jesus will be back in the fold.
But Thomas Partey who has been out for four months due to a thigh injury has sustained a setback in a similar area.
“Gabi played and trained with us the whole week,” Arteta said. “With Thomas unfortunately we had a little set back a few days ago. He’s not going to be available in the squad. We don’t know if it’s a few days or weeks.”
The Spanish coach was asked to elaborate Partey’s condition who has only made five appearances for the Gunners this season.
He added: “Yeah, a big concern because he’s such an important player for us and then we lost him for a while. Now, it’s been a long time without him
“They’ve been different kinds of injuries. Not everything is bad luck but there are a lot of things that are difficult to control. The player has an history where he’s issues in the past so we have to protect him.”
