Mikel Arteta Looking To Bring In Set-Piece Specialist From Brentford

According to the Evening Standard, Mikel Arteta wants to make additions to his coaching staff.

One candidate he is eager on is Brentford’s spot-kick specialist, Andreas Georgson. The Swede was previously an assistant at Malmo and has quite an impressive resume.

He joined the Bees a year back who lost their goalkeeper coach, Inaki Cana to Arsenal last summer. Currently, Cana is working with Sal Bibbo at North London and Georgson could join that group pretty soon. Steve Round and Albert Stuivenberg will continue to be Arteta’s assistant coaches.

This is the type of forward-thinking fans were expecting from their new manager. As football progresses, their is always a need to adapt. Hiring specialist coaches will only elevate the team’s performance and this is a model followed by all top sides in Europe. Even most casual Arsenal fan knows, how poor they are in defending set-pieces or scoring effectively from one.

As the team goes through a major transition, it is a great touch to keep revamping small pieces. Arsenal are reportedly also looking for analysts to add to their recruitment board. All changes are coming swiftly after the sacking of Raul Sanllehi as the club’s director of football.
