Mikel Arteta receives surprising update on Victor Osimhen’s transfer preference
Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, received a surprising update regarding his pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel revealed that the Nigerian striker actually prefers a move to Stamford Bridge over the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar, the 36-year-old said:
“He loves the club. He wants to come to the club. He wants to follow my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea. He’s looked at that, London as well – fantastic city – instead of going to places like Liverpool or somewhere like that.”
Despite Arsenal’s reported contact with Napoli to inquire about Osimhen’s availability, the latest twist in the transfer saga suggests that Chelsea could be the preferred destination for the prolific forward.
Osimhen’s stellar performances for Napoli, including 31 goals last season, have garnered attention from top clubs across Europe. However, with PSG also expressing interest in the striker as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, the competition for his signature intensifies.
Napoli’s hefty price tag of £112m further complicates matters for both Arsenal and Chelsea, as they may struggle to outbid the financial might of PSG.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the race for Osimhen’s signature promises to be a compelling saga to follow, with the player’s preference for Chelsea adding a new dimension to the speculation surrounding his future.
