Ivan Toney has been identified as Mikel Arteta’s primary target in the January window.
The Gunners has been linked with the 27-year-old striker who is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching the Premier League’s betting rules.
He is one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League as he netted 20 goals in the 2022/23 campaign.
Many believe Arsenal could close the gap to Manchester City if they sign a world-class striker in the winter.
Ivan Toney would be a huge upgrade to current striking options Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
Signing a prolific No.9 who can guarantee goals will be better for Arsenal in the long run.
Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor believes Arteta needs to sign the Brentford forward if he’s serious about winning the Premier League.
He said: “Have to, have to, because Nketiah is a decent striker to bring on for 15 minutes, he’s not your main striker.
“Gabriel Jesus, good on the ball, good at linking, but he’s not strong enough holding the ball up.
“He’s not getting into them spots where you are going to get them tap-ins, you know he’s not going to get them headers as well.
“So I think Ian Wright is totally right, whoever is serious about the title in January will get him [Toney].”
