Arsenal player Henrikh Mkhitaryan has said that the culture at the club has changed ever since Unai Emery joined the club.
Unai Emery became Arsenal’s new manager, succeeding Arsene Wenger. Arsenal began the season in bizarre fashino under Emery, losing their first two matches. However, they have rebounded brilliantly by going unbeaten in 15 matches in a row.
The Gunners ended below the top four of the Premier League in Wenger’s last two seasons and this season the hopes weren’t very high either. However, the club’s unbeaten run has made them serious contenders to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Mkhitaryan thinks that the club’s supporters have a renewed belief in the players. The Armenian midfielder said, “It is not that a big thing has changed, it is only the fact of the manager. But as well the culture changed a bit in the club and as well outside the club. Now people are believing more in ourselves because we are playing a bit differently, we are giving them confidence and playing the way they want us to play.
We are scoring goals, winning games and it is the best feeling for the supporters.”
Mkhitaryan also feels that Emery has built on Arsene Wenger’s work at the club during his 22-year stint. He said, “The playing style, the playing philosophy. Not a lot but he has just built on the base Arsene Wenger has built in 22 years. The players have accepted all the conditions. Everything is what Emery is expecting and asking from us.”
