The Premier League champions, Arsenal, a team Moises Caicedo supports, says he came very close to joining
In the January transfer window, Arsenal made a strong attempt to acquire Moises Caicedo, making two sizable offers of £60 million and £70 million for the Brighton midfielder.
Caicedo himself attempted to press for the transfer by issuing a statement to the media. However, Brighton refused to engage in negotiations, and in the last days of the month, the Gunners switched their focus to Jorginho. Speaking to the media at the time, Caicedo insisted that a transfer wasn’t that far off and expressed his admiration for Arsenal’s current tactics.
Caicedo didn’t dodge the topic of whether he now wants Mikel Arteta’s team to win the league. Caicedo has a new contract with Brighton since the January transfer window, but it isn’t anticipated to stop him from leaving in the summer.
According to reports, manager Roberto De Zerbi assured Caicedo that the January transfer to Arsenal wouldn’t be the last time a club made a move for him and that he will have more opportunities in the future. Later this year, the Gunners might try to get him again.
But since January, Arsenal hasn’t typically been mentioned as one of the top candidates to sign Caicedo. They were undoubtedly the favourites to capture him during the winter transfer window, but they now seem to be focusing on Declan Rice of West Ham United. It’s still something to see, though.
