Gabriel Martinelli makes statement on his Arsenal future

It’s possible that Mikel Arteta’s team’s most annoying player is now Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian striker appeared to have everything he needed to succeed at Arsenal, but six years after moving to North London, he hasn’t lived up to his full potential.

Arteta requires a frontline that can always be in the forefront, and the 24-year-old’s inconsistency is still a concern. Viktor Gyokeres merits patience, and the criticism from competitor supporters thus far is perplexing, but Bukayo Saka unquestionably is and has been a protagonist during that time.

Martinelli has had ample time to establish that he is deserving of being a steady starter, but he hasn’t done so. His position is now seriously threatened after a fantastic summer transfer window performance.

Since acquiring Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, Arsenal has not one, but two, more alternatives on the left wing. With their distinct features, the English pair are two intriguing additions that give Arteta’s attack fresh energy.

Gabriel Martinelli’s long-awaited Arsenal reality check is coming fast

The majority of Arsenal’s players are on par with some of the league’s top players in their positions, but Gabriel Martinelli no longer fits that description.

During the 22–23 season, the 24-year-old winger scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 46 appearances, making him one of the Premier League’s most entertaining attackers. But it was a while ago, and he has only regressed in the two and a half campaigns that have followed.

Eze may be aiming for that as well after the versatile attacking midfielder left Crystal Palace. The club’s decision to pay £60 million for the 27-year-old was met with little opposition from supporters.

Eze, a seasoned Premier League player, scored for Palace in their 1-0 victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final the previous season. He is another person Martinelli could be afraid is vying for Arteta’s support.
