Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins opens up on his feelings for Arsenal and his talk of interest from the Premier League club. The 25-year-old striker revealed that he dreams of playing for Arsenal one day amid transfer links.
According to a report from The Sun on Monday evening, Arsenal have picked Aston Villa striker along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Watkins’ contract will expire after four years and he joined Villa in 2020 from Brentford for around £30million. He scored 14 goals in his debut season at Villa.
The English international is now valued at £28.8m on Transfermarkt. Watkins is being linked with the Gunners. He would be a potential replacement for Alexandre Lacazette. Aston Villa striker stated: “That’s the dream to play for Arsenal one day. But it’s a long shot. It’s only because my family support them and stuff like that. But that’s a long-term [goal].
When asked about his favourite player, Ollie Watkins said, “Thierry Henry. I’m an Arsenal fan, so Thierry Henry was my (favourite player). He’s unbelievable to watch. He was the idol growing up really.”
