Sergi Roberto was heavily linked with the Gunners.

Arsenal have suffered a big blow in their summer transfer plans as they may have to wait another year to sign Barcelona full-back Sergi Roberto.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed Sergi was set to sign a new deal. The defender was into the final months of his current deal and he has agreed with terms to extend his stay at the Nou Camp until the summer of 2023.

Fabrizio Romano also adds that he has agreed to take a pay cut as part of the negotiations. Barcelona are going through a financial crisis since the pandemic time.

The Barcelona full-back was heavily linked with the Gunners but the club will have to wait for another year when his deal expires.

Fab told his YouTube followers, “Sergi Roberto is set to sign a new deal with Barca. It’s just a matter of final details and it’ll be completing. Sergi Roberto will accept a salary reduction with Barcelona and will sign for one more season. Everything is now set to be completed. The full-back will stay.”
