Sokratis officially completes Arsenal move.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has finalised his Arsenal move from Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has arrived in the UK and has finalised his transfer to Arsenal.

The Greece international said that he joined the Gunners because of their stature, history and fan base.

He said:

“I feel very good. It’s my first day here, everything is special. It’s a beautiful moment and I’m very happy that I will be here for the next years,” he told Arsenal official website.

“Arsenal is one of the three biggest teams in the Premier League and one very big club. It has a lot of fans and a very big history.

“Like I said before, I’m very happy that for the next years I will be here to help the team.”

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has made 28 appearances in the Bundesliga last season and also has won 79 caps for his country.

The Bundesliga ace – who joined Dortmund in 2013 after playing for Weder Bremen, Genoa, AC Milan and AEK Athens.

The Gunners have already brought in goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen and former Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis is the third big signing this summer.
