Kieran Tierney arrived at Arsenal in the summer of 2019 from Scottish Premiership outfit, Celtic FC. The young left-back cost the Gunners £25m and the fans are incredibly excited to watch him in action.

Many view him as an astute investment towards what has been a problem position at Arsenal for the longest time. The club’s defensive line has faltered many times in the recent past and Tierney’s arrival will definitely help mend some of the biggest problems.

10. Bloody past

Tierney has shed blood on the pitch and the scene was not pretty. A swinging arm from Aberdeen’s Jayden Stockley in a Cup game broke his jaw bone as blood poured out of his face.

The defender was forced off the pitch in the 27th minute as the Hoops managed a 2-1 victory through Tom Rogic’s late goal. Tierney later posted a picture with him holding onto the Cup trophy, the caption read – “worth a broken jaw haha”.

Many would think when a club’s oldest player and captain is out injured, the coach would defer the captaincy responsibilities to one of his other senior players but Brendan Rodgers was never scared to do otherwise.

When Scott Brown was out injured last season, Tierney was named captain of the Celtic side during a Europa League fixture against RB Salzburg. Even though the Hoops fell to a 3-1 defeat, it was a defining moment in the young Scotsman’s career.

He was born in Douglas on the Isle Of Man and signed for Celtic when he was only 7 years old. He supported the club growing up as his family are still ticket holders.
