Brentford Manager offers supportive words following Arsenal Goalkeeper’s error

Following Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale’s unfortunate error in Saturday’s match against Brentford, Brentford manager Thomas Frank revealed details of his conversation with the England international.

Although Ramsdale’s error, which resulted in a clearance bouncing into his own net, Frank supported the goalkeeper and praised his efforts throughout the game.

In a post-match interview, Frank claimed that he spoke with Ramsdale after the game, offering words of encouragement and support.

Asked after the game if he instructed his players to deliberately target Ramsdale, Frank said: ‘I think I actually said to Ramsdale I don’t think he deserves to be criticised for a mistake.

‘I think it’s more unbelievable pressure from Wissa. If you see the way he accelerates it could happen to David Raya.

‘I think it was fantastic pressure from Wissa and if you saw how many times they went long every single time we were very brave to go man to man.’

Asked to expand on what he told Ramsdale after a game which may well turn out to be his last in Arsenal colours, Frank added: ‘I said I think he’s a very good keeper and I didn’t want him to be involved in that situation.

‘Again I can’t say strongly enough I don’t think it was a mistake, but very good pressure from Wissa.’

Frank commended Ramsdale’s perseverance, noting the goalkeeper’s essential saves in the second half that kept the game tied until Kai Havertz’s late winner.

Frank’s expression to Ramsdale most likely underlined the value of remaining confident and resilient in the face of challenges. Frank, a seasoned manager, understands the mental obstacles that football players suffer and is sure to have provided Ramsdale with reassurance and counsel to help him recover from the setback.

While Ramsdale’s gaffe may have cost Arsenal dearly, Frank’s supportive stance shows the sportsmanship and affection that are common in the football industry.

As both teams prepared for future matches, Ramsdale could rely on Frank’s words of inspiration to continue delivering excellent performances for Arsenal.
