Thomas Partey will reveal where his future lies in the next few days, according to Football Ghana.
Arsenal have not given up on signing the Atletico Madrid midfielder despite his steep asking price. The Gunners are facing financial repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic but are still optimistic about transfer targets.
Partey, after all, is the single most important player Mikel Arteta would like to sign this very summer. Priced at €50m, just his arrival along can solve a lot of issues in the current squad, if not all. His dynamic passing range, defensive attributes and overall midfield dominance can set off Arsenal’s current style of play.
Partey himself is keen on joining Arsenal, as was revealed by his father last year. He is running out of a contract with Atletico and agreements have fallen through over an extension. The Gunners can easily meet his demands by offloading a set of dead weight within the current squad.
An overcrowding of the centre-back positions need to be stopped with players like Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Rob Holding, Konstantinos Mavropanos – all qualified to be moved along. Dani Ceballos will also be heading back to Real Madrid after the completion of his loan spell, opening up a spot in midfield.
