Thomas Meunier is aware of the transfer value he has as a player and is open to a move to the Premier League as reports of Arsenal being interested continues to surface.
Unai Emery is hell-bent on bringing one of his former players to the Emirates as Stephan Lichtsteiner gets set to depart from the club.
“It’s something that could suit me,” Meunier told Le Parisien when asked about the possibilities of leaving Paris Saint-Germain next year.
“I don’t think the club would make a lot of money from me, actually. I have a market value, but I’m a defender, I play one game out of three and I’m turning 28. It’s not like Adrien, who is worth 50million euros.”
Meunier started 27 games for PSG this past term while also scoring 5 goals. His inclusion in the first team decreased right upon the introduction of a veteran Dani Alves.
“There have been calls with interested clubs since January,” Meunier revealed to LesNews24 “All of those clubs are in the top five ranks in their leagues.”
This would mean that Manchester United are out of the running since they finished in the 6th spot of the Premier League last term.
“[Running down my contract if PSG don’t offer me an extension], is something that could suit me. I do not think the club would make a lot of money by selling me, actually. I have a market value, but I’m a defender, I play once in three games & I’m turning 28 soon.”
“I told the PSG leaders that I was ready to stay, that I would like it a lot. They did not tell me: We absolutely want to sell you. They know that at some point they will need me,” he added.
“If the club tells me: listen, we want to sell you, we need money, there is financial fair play, and I will not play next year, we will find a solution that will please and satisfy both sides, of course.”
