Mesut Ozil is seemingly in a much ‘happier’ after helping Arsenal to a 5-1 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday evening.
The German made a very rare start under Unai Emery to break the deadlock within 4 minutes from the opening whistle. He struck the ball into the ground to eventually dink it over the opposition keeper which is slowly coming to become one of his signature finishes.
Goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Laurent Koscielny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette saw the Gunners clinch all 3 points in a convincing fashion at the Emirates.
From what has been made over Ozil’s disappearance from the Arsenal starting lineup altogether this season, the 30-year-old did not look the least bit demotivated last night as he has been accused of plenty of times.
After the game, Emery said, “I think he is happier with us. I am now also very proud of our players. He helped us with his quality.”
“We work like we did in the last matches with intensity. After 2-0 their goal can give us a problem but I think we show maturity in this moment by continuing to push. Today with our supporters here, we had a good atmosphere.”
“It is important these three matches we play here. In a short time, we keep the performance with different players. We play with intensity. It is good for the team and for this moment. Some players today can rest, with the derby on Saturday.”
When asked about Koscielny’s injury, the Spaniard replied, “He got a kick and has a little pain but I think he’ll be okay.”
