Unai Emery confirmed that Mesut Ozil was available against Sheffield United but did not explain why he was not picked.
Once again, the German was left out of the squad on Monday night while Arsenal lost 1-0 to the Blades at Bramall Lane.
When asked whether Özil was fit and available for the match, Emery told BBC Sport: “He can help us, yes.”
Of course, the Spaniard did not disclose the real reason Ozil was absent from his lineup but it is pretty clear at this point. He does not respect the player or his talents and things will hardly ever improve while he is still in charge of the Gunners.
It was a shameful display by Arsenal against a bottom half Premier League side. Emery played 4 midfielders on the matchday – Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos, neither of whom created a single chance throughout the entire game.
That is a clear picture to what Ozil could have offered but also a clear indication of the current system not at all working at Arsenal. Emery has been in charge of the team for over a year and there hardly seems to be any coordination between players both in attack and defence.
