Unai Emery reveals what he wants from his side against Newcastle United

Arsenal will face the Magpies on Saturday

Arsenal had a very busy summer as Unai Emery was appointed as the new manager of the club after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years. The Spaniard signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.

He was given the charge with the task of rebuilding the squad and returning the club to the European elite while challenging for other major honours, after they finished sixth in the Premier League last season resulting in missing the Champions League this season.

However, the Gunners didn’t got off to a great start as they have begun life under the new manager with back-to-back defeats in the Premier League against their big rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

But won their next two fixtures against West Ham United and Cardiff City. The Spaniard wants to transform the London Outfit into a possession based team and has been putting emphasis on playing from the back.

The London Outfit will face Newcastle United on Saturday and will be hoping to make three consecutive wins in the Premier League. Emery wants his side to show personality against Rafa Benitez’s side.

“I know Benítez,” The 46 year old told reporters as quoted by Goal. “He is a very competitive coach and his teams are usually also competitive.”

“He is the first of the Spanish coaches to be working here, he knows the Premier League. He got the best performance with a lot of teams and above all with Liverpool.

“We need to improve on the pitch with our personality and our ideas. We want to do better than the last match in Cardiff. We want the same result but we can be better on the pitch.”
