Wenger spoke to talkSPORT, about finishing the Premier League and why it’s important.
“I believe the priority for the Premier League is to finish the season,” Wenger said. “That could mean pushing fixtures back until the end of June, but they have to do that.”
Everything is a bit up in the air with the Premier League at the moment. Most recently, they decided to push the return of football back to the end of April, whilst also ‘indefinitely’ extending the end of the season. That’s just the current plan though.
Everything is rather uncertain as of now, when it comes to resuming the leagues. Just recently on Monday, the Premier League suspension got pushed till end of April from mid April. That left everyone wondering about the future of Premier League and football.
There’s no sure evidence that football will resume as normal post end April. The quarantine and suspension could very well remain even through the summer months, in the crucial transfer window period.
Finishing the current season at this time does seem like the best option, but it’s easier said than done. However, if everything can go smoothly, then the worrries of the next season won’t be there.
