Arsenal legends tout potential signing of Chelsea star as title boost

Former Arsenal and Chelsea players William Gallas and Emmanuel Petit have spoken on Mykhailo Mudryk’s likely transfer to Arsenal, saying that the signing may significantly strengthen the Gunners’ title hopes.

Gallas, who transferred from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates in 2006, and Petit, who played for Chelsea before joining Barcelona, believe Mudryk’s existence at Arsenal might provide the club an edge in their pursuit of silverware.

“I know that Emmanuel Petit spoke about Mykhailo Mudryk potentially joining Arsenal, as Arteta likes him,” Gallas told Gambling Zone. “Mudryk could be a good fit, with his speed and quality and that’s why Arteta likes him.

“Before he signed for Chelsea, Arsenal nearly signed him but he changed his mind and you cannot forget that. I said before that Arsenal will win the title next year, not this year, and if they sign Mudryk that could help them.”

Earlier in the year, Petit told Wettfreunde he felt Mudryk would have had a better environment to succeed had he joined Arsenal. “There are also no guarantees that he would have prevailed at Arsenal. But clearly, the chances would have been greater because the squad there is better structured and there is significantly more stability,” he said.

While Mudryk initially was interested in moving to Arsenal in 2023 before signing with Chelsea, Gallas and Petit see a chance for the Gunners to step in, especially given Chelsea’s possible need to offload players to meet financial restrictions.

Given Mudryk’s inconsistent performance at Chelsea, where he fought to establish a regular starting berth, Gallas and Petit believe the Ukrainian winger will prosper under Mikel Arteta’s guidance at Arsenal.

With fears regarding Chelsea’s financial restraints and the prospective sale of players, Mudryk’s transfer to Arsenal could be a strategic move for the Gunners in their attempt of Premier League success.

As Arsenal continues to strengthen their squad, the possibility of Mudryk donning the red and white jersey has caused excitement among fans and analysts alike, with many imagining the influence he could have on the team’s title hopes.
