Mikel Arteta has earned a praise from Barcelona manager Xavi.
The Spaniard struggled in his initial two seasons at the Emirates as an Arsenal manager.
The Gunners are currently at the top of the Premier League table, two points clear of title-holders Manchester City.
Barcelona manager Xavi is not surprised with his compatriot’s success at the Emirates.
The two managers go way back during their youth days at Camp Nou.
Xavi was asked to give his verdict on Mikel Arteta’s success at the North London Stadium.
‘He’s not surprised me because he had the best references [having worked with Guardiola] and because if you have played as a central midfielder at Barca you already have a headstart — you have the map of your pitch in your head,’ Xavi told The Times.
‘And because Pepe Reina is a close friend of his and has always spoken very well of him. I had a feeling that Arteta would do very well, but it was just a feeling.’
