Arsenal are one of the big names connected to Major League Soccer’s rising star, Miguel Almiron.

According to Football.London, a host of Premier League sides are looking into the prospects of the 24-year-old midfielder. Newcastle United and West Ham United are strongly in the lead but recent interests from Unai Emery seemingly has cooled off.

The Spanish boss might not be in the market for central midfielders when he clearly needs to make improvements elsewhere. Following Rob Holding’s injury this week, the Gunners might need to look for a defensive head this January as well as a winger.

Almiron is certainly making strides in one of North America’s elite leagues and his agent has let out word of his ambitions to move to the Premier League. He was quoted, “There’s nothing concrete but certainly Almiron will play in the Premier League.”

The 12-time Paraguayan international stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall with a lot of attacking pedigree. He currently plays for Atalanta United and has a contract until the summer of 2022. He has already amassed 20 goals and assists in 38 games this year, making a strong case for a jump to the European stage.

However, with top-pedigree talents such as Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan already in the side, it is hardly a necessity for Emery to go after another playmaker. Arsenal might just be weighing their options in the current market in preparation of the departure of Aaron Ramsey next summer.
