Hwang has had an outstanding start to the league campaign, scoring five goals in seven matches for Salzburg who sit top of the Austrian Bundesliga.
The South Korea international has also impressed in the Champions League and shone in the side’s thrilling 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield earlier this month.
Hwang caused Liverpool problems all night and turned PFA Player of the Year Virgil van Dijk inside out to open the scoring for Salzburg on Merseyside.
According to Daily Mail, Arsenal are looking to sign Red Bull Salzburg forward Hwang Hee-chan, but face a battle with Crystal Palace. It is understood a host of major clubs from around Europe are also monitoring the player.
The Gunners have been left a little short in attack with Alexandre Lacazette’s injury, but Gabriel Martinelli has shown real potential in limited playing time. Given that loaned-out striker Eddie Nketiah will be coming back next summer, signing an attacker who can also play out wide would be ideal, and they appear to have found one.
The 23-year-old has returned from a disappointing loan spell at Hamburg with a bang, smashing seven goals and 10 assists in 11 games for Salzburg. Hwang’s versatility to play anywhere across the front line is hugely appealing, and with blistering pace as well as major potential, he could be a smart signing for Arsenal.
