Arsenal Have Been Contacted By Fenerbahce About Mesut Ozil Loan Deal

Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Fenerbahce about a loan deal for Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners are willing to pay a part of his £350,000-per-week wages in order to complete the transfer.

Ozil’s contract is set to run till the summer of 2021 but he has failed to maintain the required standards ever since he signed the contract in January 2018. He has featured in only 2 games this season out of the 11 played so far.

Unai Emery continues to pick loan signing, Dani Ceballos over him and has also allowed youngsters, Bukayo Saka, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Martinelli to feature more.

The manager last week clearly stated that Ozil did not “deserve” to be in the starting lineup after reports of fitness issues. The German also failed to impress in training this week to create further problems over his selection.

There is no doubt that Ozil’s Arsenal career is close to being over but the question is over when. Fenerbahce is ready to offer him a lifeline from the start of the new year and Arsenal can look to recruit a replacement as well.

Turkish outlet, Takvim has contacted the Gunners about taking Ozil off of their hands. Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour believes it is the sudden rise of youth talent at the Emirates which has frozen Ozil out.

He said, “I have been really impressed by the youngsters coming through, from Arsenal’s point of view. Ozil’s not even in the squad now. I think that’s probably the end of his career at Arsenal.

“You have got youngsters that deserve an opportunity probably more than him at the moment. Saka, Martinelli, Ceballos – we have so many options.”
