Arsenal Have Golden Opportunity To Sell Sead Kolasinac For €20m

Sead Kolasinac’s agent has been contacted by his former club, FC Schalke.

Arsenal are close to securing the free transfer of Layvin Kurzawa from Paris Saint-Germain. The Frenchman’s arrival could very well mean that Kolasinac’s time at North London is over.

The Bosnian arrived on a free deal as well under Arsene Wenger but his prospects have not panned out well in the Premier League. Still a defensive liability, Kolasinac is very limited as a left-back for the Gunners. His injury history is not the best and his contract is due to run out in another two years.

He immediately got dropped to second-choice after the arrival of Kieran Tierney last summer and then to third after Bukayo Saka’s emergence from the youth team. Arsenal have a very good chance of making a neat profit on him, around €20m worth. Schalke are ready to take back their former player but Kolasinac will likely have to take a wage cut.

Kolasinac did have a slim chance of flourishing in a backup role under Mikel Arteta. In the Spaniard’s setup, the Arsenal left-backs are given the freedom to burst forward on overlapping runs which suited Kolasinac’s style. However, there are far better quality options ahead of him now and it would be optimal to raise some funds through player sales. Selling him would the first step into clearing a lot of dead weight in this Arsenal side.
