Romeo Lavia, a standout for Southampton, is being pursued by Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool

In the race to capture Romeo Lavia from Southampton during the summer transfer window, Arsenal has joined Chelsea and Liverpool. Given that Saints were demoted to the Championship after failing to keep their Premier League status, Lavia’s time with the team may be coming to an end (h/t Metro).

The young player excelled for them despite being demoted, attracting interest from illustrious English clubs. The 19-year-old’s transfer to Chelsea has already begun with the Saints, and Liverpool is also considering making a bid for the midfielder.

It is now believed that Arsenal is interested in signing the defensive midfielder and has started speaking with the Saints. The Gunners are thought to get along well with Lavia’s team, which might help them win the contest. Given that players like Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are expected to depart the club in the upcoming weeks, the Gunners are aiming to rebuild their midfield. They will need to spend about £50 million to acquire Lavia, a sum that makes sense given that the Belgian’s contract includes a 24 percent sell-on clause.

Lavia, a seasoned player in the Premier League, would undoubtedly add value to Arsenal, Chelsea, or Liverpool. Given their summer departures and the dearth of young, dynamic options on the roster, the Reds in especially needed to add players to the midfield. Lavia would undoubtedly secure at least one position in the long run. Arsenal’s predicament, meanwhile, was already highlighted above because they are overhauling their team. Given that the futures of Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, and Mason Mount at Stamford Bridge are still in question, Chelsea unquestionably needs one.

Given that he is only 19 years old, his asking price of £50 million shouldn’t be a problem. Because they can use the Champions League as a trump card, Arsenal seems to have the best chances, but Liverpool can also offer him the Europa League, unlike Chelsea, who aren’t in Europe. Lavia is a young team with little experience competing in European leagues. He has only participated in one full Premier League season, but with the right coaching, he has the potential to become one of the greatest at his position.
