Arsenal Invincible Gilberto Silva hints midfield signings this transfer window

Arsenal are keen to sign two new midfielders in the winter transfer window.

Arsenal Invincible Gilberto Silva talked about the midfield part of the Gunners. Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen their engine room during the January transfer window.

Arsenal invested a huge amount on the signings of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice over the summer. Arteta is keen to boost their midfield part.

Arsenal cope without Granit Xhaka, who left for Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. Martin Odegaard has been struggling with injuries for a few weeks.

Thomas Partey is sidelined until the New Year owing to a thigh operation. He has made only 5 starts this season. Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny are due to become free agents at the end of the season. The duo has already entered in their 30s. Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe are not consistent starters for Arteta.

While talking to The Mirror, Gilberto revealed that Arsenal are hoping to bolster their engine room in winter. He said, “I heard that they were maybe looking for some midfielders especially because of Partey being injured at times.”

The former Brazil international speaks at a Lisbon Web Summit, “I’m not sure if it’s 100 percent going to happen but obviously, they have to be aware that this is a very short window and very specific.

“You have to be like a fisherman sometimes, to grab the right player that you really need that’s going to help you to win games and to be useful for the rest of the season. Also to improve the way you play.

“It’s not about sometimes bringing a player because you need [them]. Speaking to people there, Edu many times, they are working hard to have the data and what they think is right for the club in terms of targets. The market is very competitive as well, sometimes you have to be fast and not lose the opportunity.”

Arsenal are targeting Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz and Al-Hilal’s Ruben Neves in January. Fluminense’s Andre and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips are other targets if they miss first two players in the winter window.
